How Far is Too Far? Technology Overload

Mashable Technology reveals an interesting article by Soren Gordhamer about the relationship between technology and our youth. Since technology only gets advanced with time, children are starting earlier and earlier each day. I look around and kids as young as eight years old are listening to their IPod or texting on their IPhones. I remember when Gameboys were the "It" thing. How many numbers can these kids possibly have? What are they listening to? How do they even have the responsibility to take care of these gadgets? I ask myself these questions everyday and it absolutely boggles my mind. Maybe it comes to a shock since growing up I wasn't able to have a phone until I was in high school and this was considered a stretch since my older sisters couldn't get one until they drove. My brother, now fifteen years old, has gone through countless smart phones, Ipods and every gaming device possible. This validates technology's impact on our youth today. This article gives parents tips in order to keep technology from taking over-technology has no boundaries, know when to cut it off, know the difference between preference and addiction, focus on technology that truly connects us to our kids, and model the balance. New parents, I strongly advise you to read this and keep technology from taking over your kid's lives.
